The Product Quality Manager has overall, end-to-end quality responsibility for a range of diverse Beats and Apple accessories. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that works across multiple products, suppliers, management levels, and functions to ensure that the products fulfill the promise of Apple Quality of fit, form, and function. This role involves partnerships with Engineering, Product Design, Program Management, Product Integrity, AppleCare, and component teams. Strong technical, presentation, and organizational skills are essential.
This role surpasses conventional quality execution. It is specifically designed for individuals who possess the ability to evolve into AI-driven quality systems initiatives. These initiatives will leverage data, automation, and predictive analytics to proactively identify and mitigate potential failures before they manifest.
  • Support entire program development cycle, from design concept through program end of life
  • Own product quality planning and execution across incoming quality, in-line quality, outgoing quality, ongoing reliability testing, and field quality
  • Establish new methods for monitoring and reporting status, including Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), and Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT)
  • Develop and implement user testing to ensure compatibility with other systems, identify potential problems, and help engineering teams implement solutions
  • Plan field quality readiness for new product launch partnering with AppleCare and engineering, including planning and driving Early Field Failure Analysis (EFFA)
  • Spearhead innovative new ways to identify and resolve customer-facing issues
  • Implement best practices and learnings across manufacturing sites and products
  • Lead data-driven approaches to failure analysis, identifying root causes, implementing, and validating preventive and corrective actions.
  • Succinctly communicate key updates to senior management and the executive team.
  • Technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • High volume manufacturing experience with a detailed understanding of advanced product quality planning, production processes, testing, kitting, and packaging (e.g., consumer electronics, automotive, medical devices, etc.).
  • Proficiency in GD&T, metrology, and measurement equipment and techniques.
  • Experience with statistical techniques including SPC, sampling AQLs, measurement system analysis (GR&R), process capability (Cpk).
  • Problem-solving skills utilizing quality tools and capable of identifying the root cause of challenging problems and implementing corrective actions with stringent deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in JMP and/or Minitab, including statistical analysis, SPC, regression, process capability, and visualization.
  • Discriminating eye for demanding cosmetic categorization and supplier inspection
  • Able to build relationships and lead by influence; this role requires advocating for change with a variety of teams across Apple
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage and drive issues to closure
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems, Design of Experiments, Reliability Methods/Models
  • International travel is required (up to 25%).
  • Exposure to Python, data analytics, or AI/ML concepts (not mandatory but strong plus)
  • Experience working with automated inspection or smart manufacturing systems
  • Understanding of data pipelines, MES systems, or IoT-enabled manufacturing
  • Interest in building AI-driven quality systems and automation workflows
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering is considered a plus.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $128,400 and $236,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
