Claris International Inc., an Apple company, is seeking a Senior Engineer to drive the technical direction and architecture for robust data platforms and client-facing solutions. In this role, you will combine deep database architecture expertise with hands-on delivery rigor, ensuring projects are executed on time, to specification, and with production-grade quality. You will translate client requirements into scalable, secure technical designs while fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
As a FileMaker Senior Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead responsible for architecting and delivering mission-critical database solutions that directly impact our clients' success. You will partner closely with Server teams and internal stakeholders to transform business requirements into clear, detailed database architectures. By owning the end-to-end technical lifecycle of client-facing database solutions, your technical leadership will ensure that every schema, data model, and pipeline is designed for long-term operability, security, and performance.
- Design autonomous frameworks using self-healing scripts and AI-First Automation tools to drastically reduce manual maintenance and speed up delivery.
- Build specialized evaluation harnesses to measure hallucination rates, and the reliability of output.
- Leverage AI-powered tools to rapidly generate comprehensive test suites and edge cases directly from code and user stories.
- Establish rigorous testing standards for bias detection, safety, and regulatory compliance to ensure ethical AI deployments across the enterprise.
- Work with teams on transitioning from traditional QA to AI-driven workflows, ensuring a high-quality bar for complex, multi-step AI reasoning systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8 years of experience in database or data engineering roles.
- Experience designing scalable architectures across Server, Client, WebDirect, APIs, and cloud or on-premises deployments.
- Experience delivering complex systems on schedule while maintaining quality standards.
- Experience with data modeling, schema design, and normalization principles.
- Experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Extensive hands-on experience with FileMaker platform (Server, Pro, WebDirect, Data API)
- Experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid deployment models
- Knowledge with C++
- Background in enterprise-scale database performance tuning and optimization
- Experience with database security frameworks, compliance standards (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA), and audit requirements
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
- Strong conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills
- Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for production databases
- Track record of reducing technical debt and improving system reliability
