Lead a team that brings Apple's most ambitious products to life. We are looking for an exceptional and highly motivated Senior Manager to lead our team's data collection efforts across a variety of core technologies.
In this role, you will own the vision, strategy and execution of large-scale data operations; growing and developing a team of talented engineers while driving alignment across hardware, software, infrastructure and algorithm organizations. A deep understanding of data collection and user study fundamentals, proven people leadership and a strong command of Apple's product ecosystem will be critical to succeeding in our highly dynamic and cross-functional landscape.
- Lead, grow and inspire a team of Data Operations Engineers; setting clear goals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement and developing team members at every career stage
- Own the strategic vision for data collection and user study operations, translating organizational priorities into team roadmaps, resource plans and measurable outcomes
- Drive large-scale data collections and user studies for algorithm development domestically and internationally, ensuring operational excellence across all phases of execution
- Partner at the director level across hardware, software, infrastructure and algorithm teams to define requirements, resolve cross-functional blockers and align on shared priorities
- Oversee headcount planning, hiring and onboarding; actively building a diverse, high-performing team
- Champion HW/SW platform readiness, directing bring-up and long-term maintenance of pre-release platforms used across multiple locales
- Present program health, risks and strategic recommendations to senior and executive leadership with clarity and confidence
- Establish and scale operational processes, including documentation standards, vendor management frameworks, study design protocols and data offload practices
- BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
- 3+ years of direct people management experience with a demonstrated track record of building and developing high-performing technical teams
- Willingness and ability to travel to Apple and vendor study locations a minimum of 10–15% of the year
- Ability to work in an office environment a minimum of 3 days per week
- Experience scoping, bidding and contracting third-party vendors for short and long-term projects at scale
- Strong background in creating complex roadmaps/schedules with timely delivery across key milestones and multiple concurrent work streams
- Exceptional cross-functional influence; a track record of driving alignment and outcomes across engineering, operations and research organizations without direct authority
- Motivated and proactive approach to resolving issues and anticipating organizational needs before they become blockers
- Challenges the Status Quo: in the absence of process, create it, document it and socialize it. When the process doesn't make sense, drive innovation; when faced with a difficult problem it's not about what we can't do but rather "Yes, but-"
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication; able to adapt style fluidly for executive audiences, technical engineers and external vendor partners alike
- Sound technical troubleshooting and triage methodology with experience overseeing pre-release hardware and software platforms
- Experience creating human-centric data collection protocols and general data offload practices
