The Asset Intelligence Platform is the consolidated registry that maps applications and services to their underlying infrastructure and dependencies across our data centers, compute facilities, and labs, spanning both internal and third-party environments. By aggregating data from dozens of integrations and discovery tools, it forms the information backbone for operational excellence, IT service management, software asset management, and critical security, privacy, and compliance programs. In any large, evolving infrastructure, visibility is the foundation for everything that follows. Teams responsible for security, compliance, and reliability depend on accurate, comprehensive insight into the environment to do their jobs effectively, and this platform delivers it. As the Application Engineer in this role, you won't just keep the system running—you'll help it evolve alongside the infrastructure and the stakeholders who rely on it.
We are seeking an Application Engineer who operates at the intersection of customer need and engineering execution. In this role, you will develop a deep understanding of the problems internal customers face, translate those insights into product direction, onboard new teams onto the platform, support established users, and help stakeholders at every level understand the business value this system delivers. This is a role for someone who wants meaningful influence over both the what and the how of a product, and who values the people using a system as much as the system itself.
- Customer Discovery and Advocacy Build strong relationships with the internal teams and business partners who depend on IT inventory data for security, compliance, operations, and planning. Understand their workflows, challenges, and goals, and ensure those insights inform every decision the engineering team makes.
- Product Roadmap Development Play a significant role in defining and prioritizing the product roadmap. Drawing on customer feedback, usage data, and your own technical judgment, help determine what the team builds next and ensure investments are aligned with the highest-impact opportunities.
- Technical Collaboration with Engineering Participate actively in design reviews, architectural discussions, and engineering tradeoff decisions. Bring a product lens to technical conversations by consistently grounding them in real customer problems. You should be comfortable reading and reviewing code, prototyping solutions, and building integrations when the situation calls for it.
- Customer Onboarding Own the end-to-end onboarding experience for new teams, users, and business partners. This includes assessing their requirements, configuring or tailoring solutions, developing documentation, leading enablement sessions, and ensuring successful adoption.
- Ongoing Customer Support Serve as a trusted point of contact for teams already using the platform. Triage issues, collect feedback, identify patterns that signal deeper systemic needs, and close the loop so customers know their input has been heard and acted upon.
- Storytelling and Value Communication Help the team articulate the business value of the IT Inventory platform to leadership, stakeholders, and partner organizations. Whether through a strategy document, a quarterly review, or a cross-functional presentation, make a clear and compelling case for the platform's impact and direction.
- 8+ years of experience in a role combining technical depth with customer or product engagement, such as solutions engineering, technical product management, application engineering, or a comparable discipline
- Strong understanding of infrastructure and platform engineering, including data centers, cloud environments, networking, compute, and the services built on top of them
- Technical fluency sufficient to read and review code, write scripts or prototypes, work with APIs and data models, and contribute meaningfully to architecture discussions
- Demonstrated ability to build trust with customers, understand their needs deeply, and communicate solutions clearly
- Strong product instincts, including the ability to evaluate tradeoffs, assess impact, and prioritize based on customer and business value
- Familiarity with IT operations concepts such as asset management, configuration management, or CMDB tools
- Exposure to security, privacy, and compliance frameworks
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to operate effectively across a broad and evolving set of responsibilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
