Imagine being part of the team that ensures every Apple product performs exactly as designed — before a single prototype is built. Apple’s Hardware Engineering organization is home to some of the most advanced simulation and signal integrity work in the industry, developing the foundational methodologies that connect virtual models to physical reality. Our work spans every product line — from iPhone to Mac to Vision Pro — empowering engineers across Apple to make confident design decisions faster and with greater precision, all in service of creating products that enrich people’s lives. You’ll join the Material Modeling Team, a group whose mission is to elevate simulation confidence to the point where it reliably supports critical design decisions. We deliver on this through two foundational pillars: methodology development in close partnership with product teams, and material model generation and validation across the environmental conditions that matter to real products. As a Material Modeling and Simulation Engineer, you’ll develop and validate simulation methodologies that drive strong correlation between simulation results and physical measurements — partnering with hardware engineering teams across multiple product divisions to accelerate development and reduce reliance on physical builds.
You’ll focus on improving PCB material modeling quality and simulation-to-measurement correlation to inform design decisions for new technologies and designs. You thrive on bridging the gap between modeled and measured results, enjoy cross-functional collaboration with hardware engineering teams, and are motivated to drive adoption of proven methodologies across a diverse set of products.
  • Working closely with product teams, you’ll develop, validate, and refine simulation methodologies which enable correlation with measurements.
  • Developing and validating methodologies is core to this role — you’ll generate PCB material models across user-defined environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity permutations.
  • Through workshops, office hours, and direct collaboration, you’ll support product teams in adopting improved correlation methodologies.
  • Expanding correlation methodology coverage across multiple EM simulation tools — including HFSS 3D Layout, CST, ADS, and Clarity — will be a key part of your impact.
  • You’ll apply AI and ML techniques to EM Simulation Methodologies.
  • Your work will contribute to formal PCB material validation processes that support sign-off for new material families and maintain the integrity of the PCB material database.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field of study.
  • 3+ years of related work and relevant academic experience.
  • Hands-on experience with EM simulation vendor tools — such as HFSS or similar
  • Expertise in AI/ML methodologies — such as DNN, PINN, or gradient boosting
  • Good understanding of Electromagnetics.
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field.
  • A deep understanding of PCB material characterization methods and material property modeling across environmental conditions is part of your expertise.
  • Experience with VNA-based S-parameter measurement, TRL/TDR calibration, and de-embedding workflows.
  • Strong understanding of simulation-to-measurement correlation workflows, including de-embedding techniques.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
