Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, quality isn't a checkpoint, it's a mindset woven into every product, service, and experience we create. The people here don't just test software; they safeguard the customer experience that defines Apple in the minds of millions. If you see quality as a strategic force multiplier, not a final gate, then this role was built for you. The AppleCare Technologies team has an immediate opening for a Cross-Functional Quality Engineer to plan and lead testing across complex projects. In AppleCare Technologies, inclusion and diversity fuel our ability to solve the most complex quality challenges in the enterprise. Our Cross-Functional Quality Engineers are the architects of confidence. You will bring structure to ambiguity, elevate quality thinking across disciplines, and ensure that Apple's most ambitious systems initiatives ship with precision and integrity. We are looking for a quality leader who doesn't just execute test plans, but someone who shapes how Apple thinks about quality from day one of a program, leaving every team more capable than they found it.
In this role, you will embed quality early in the software development lifecycle by driving risk-based testing strategies and ensuring quality is a shared responsibility across product, engineering, and business teams. You will lead large-scale, cross-functional testing programs utilizing data, analytics, automation, and AI/ML capabilities to prioritize efforts and improve delivery outcomes. Additionally, you will focus on building organizational capability through mentoring, process improvement, and the adoption of innovative testing practices.
  • Drive quality strategy, risk assessment, and testing alignment from project inception by partnering with cross-functional teams to establish shared quality ownership.
  • Apply risk-based testing and data-driven insights to prioritize coverage, proactively mitigate risks, and optimize quality outcomes.
  • Lead end-to-end testing strategy, planning, resourcing, and execution across complex enterprise programs.
  • Advance quality engineering through the adoption of automation, AI/ML-driven testing practices, and innovative tools.
  • Develop organizational quality capability by mentoring teams, fostering continuous learning, and driving improvements in testing processes.
  • Provide clear, actionable communication of testing progress, risks, and quality insights to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading quality engineering and cross-functional testing at an enterprise scale.
  • Experience with risk-based testing methodologies and shift-left quality strategy, resulting in proactive defect prevention.
  • Background utilizing test automation frameworks and driving automation adoption across teams.
  • Experience with Generative AI and/or AI/ML in a quality engineering or software development context.
  • Knowledge of system and software architecture models, including analyzing system interdependencies and translating them into actionable test designs.
  • Experience establishing QA program structure, coordinating cross-project testing initiatives, and optimizing quality investments.
  • Domain knowledge in Services, Operations, Supply Chain, and/or Logistics within a large enterprise environment.
  • Background leading testing for SAP R/3 to S/4 HANA migrations.
  • Experience supporting data privacy and regulatory compliance programs (e.g., PIPL, GDPR, PDPA), including validation of data handling controls and data governance processes.
  • Familiarity working within a global organization and collaborating with geographically distributed teams.
  • ISTQB, ASQ, or equivalent quality engineering certification.
  • Ability to lead and influence without direct authority across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
  • Capability to distill technical complexity and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Aptitude for navigating ambiguity and bringing structure to complex quality challenges.
