Description

Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor. This position is intended to strengthen and expand Edson College’s health research portfolio, including support for externally funded, collaborative, and translational research initiatives, and offer faculty the opportunity to engage with a growing academic health ecosystem at Arizona State University.

Edson College seeks faculty whose scholarship advances health research broadly defined, including but not limited to chronic disease prevention and management, population and public health, intervention development and testing, implementation and dissemination science, health technologies, behavioral and biobehavioral science, maternal and child health, sleep, cancer, sexual health, substance use, and data-intensive health research. We are particularly interested in scholarship that examines aging and caregiving or metabolic health.

ASU Health is Arizona State University’s newly launched academic health initiative, designed to bring together health-related colleges, research programs, and clinical partnerships in support of high-impact, translational health research. The initiative emphasizes collaboration across disciplines and sectors, with a focus on moving research more efficiently from discovery to application. Faculty in Edson College will contribute to and benefit from this evolving environment through interdisciplinary collaboration, shared research infrastructure, and close connection to clinical and community partners, creating opportunities to extend the reach and relevance of their scholarly work.

Essential Functions:

  • Essential Functions of the position include
  • Conducting an active, independent, and externally supported program of health-related research appropriate to rank
  • Publishing scholarly work in peer-reviewed venues and disseminating research findings
  • Teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in academic and research settings
  • Contributing to interdisciplinary and interprofessional research, education, or service initiatives
  • Participating in service activities that support the mission and governance of Edson College, ASU Health, and the profession

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • An earned PhD or equivalent research-focused doctoral degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity appropriate to rank, including peer-reviewed publications
  • Demonstrated potential for, or record of, securing external research funding

For applicants whose doctoral degree is in nursing, eligibility for Registered Nurse licensure in Arizona is required, with licensure obtained prior to the first day of employment.

Desired Qualifications
  • Postdoctoral training (for early-career applicants)
  • A sustained record of externally funded research (for senior applicants)
  • Experience contributing to or leading collaborative, multi-investigator research initiatives
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral students in research
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines or professional domains
  • Evidence of leadership or service in professional or scholarly organizations
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in teaching or mentoring students
