The Job/What You'll Do:
AssetMark is looking for a motivated and high-performing professional to join our Controllership team as a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst. This role will be primarily responsible for supporting the Company’s external and internal financial reporting, external audit, month-end accounting, and assist with other operational accounting and reporting projects.
We are seeking an execution-oriented and strong team player who can work independently and across the organization in order to drive operational excellence and ensure the highest standards of audit and financial integrity.
This is a full-time position in our Concord, CA office with a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of recurring US GAAP financial and non-GAAP financial reporting deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards
- Maintain disclosure checklists and ensure compliance with GAAP and disclosure requirements
- Stay up-to-date on changes to accounting standards and proactively identify potential impacts to the Company’s financial statements
- Execute complex accounting for non-standard transactions including: business combinations, debt modifications, equity conversion of convertible instruments, pushdown accounting, consolidations, and other non-routine business transactions as they occur
- Support complex accounting analyses in the areas of: goodwill impairment, reporting unit and reporting segment determination, and non-controlling interest
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in accounting, finance, legal, audit, and IT to address complex accounting topics, including revenue recognition, technical accounting, and reporting matters
- Monitor and track the progress of audit engagements, proactively communicating updates and results to key stakeholders to support timely project completion
- Coordinate closely with external auditors throughout the annual testing process, providing necessary documentation and support for efficient and effective audits
- Support internal audit initiatives related to SOX controls
- Perform key month-end close responsibilities, such as preparing journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure financial integrity
- Support federal, state, and local tax compliance by preparing required documentation, gathering data, and ensuring timely and accurate filings
- Partner with external tax advisors to complete all federal, state, and local tax filings, and contribute to ongoing compliance and audit requirements as needed
- Support ad hoc projects, analysis and management reporting initiatives
- Streamline audit processes and workflows to ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive audit results, while fostering effective collaboration among teams
- Maintain strict adherence to US GAAP, SOX requirements, and all relevant tax laws, supporting the preparation and review of financial statements and regulatory filings
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all month-end accounting activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations, while continuously improving processes to support operational efficiency and financial integrity
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Solid project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent understanding of US GAAP and financial statements
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and
- Proactive, detail-oriented go-getter with strong critical thinking and organization skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Result-oriented and demonstrate a sense of urgency
Education & Experience:
- A BA/BS degree in Audit, Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field is required
- 4+ years of experience in External Audit or experience with similar audit/accounting roles
- A CPA (or in progress)
- Big 4 experience
- Financial services industry experience
- Experience with a publicly traded or PE-owned company
Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $105,000-$115,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
