As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will evaluate, from a reliability standpoint, the material, properties and techniques used in production. You'll report to the Director, Site Reliability Engineering.

This is a remote opportunity.

POSITION: Sr. Software Engineer

WORK LOCATION: 512 S Mangum Street, Suite 100, Durham, NC 27701 (Telecommuting permitted anywhere within in the U.S.)


What Your Responsibilities Will Be

Evaluate, from a reliability standpoint, the materials, properties and techniques used in production. Advise design engineering on selection, application and test of electronic components and systems. Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Determine reliability requirements of components and systems to achieve company, customer and any governmental agency reliability objectives. Develop new acceleration techniques and analytical tools to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging, processes, and product reliability. Make recommendations for changes in the selection and application of components and systems. May propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. Streamline Kubernetes operations across multiple cloud providers. Mature the organization's tooling to standardize deploy practices and move towards a globally distributed infrastructure. Tool and education that will help teams migrate from their existing container ecosystem to Kubernetes. Conduct workshops to evangelize and educate about the infrastructure platform. Proactively work with other SRE teams within the org to identify potential integration areas that are a source of friction and eliminate them. Administer Kubernetes related changes across multiple cloud providers. Build tools for the cloud infrastructure platform using Go, Python, or Terraform to automate away things. On-board feature development teams. Troubleshoot and support the platform. Telecommute permitted from anywhere in the U.S.


What You'll Need to be Successful

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate enterprise level experience in a site reliability engineering-related occupation, including 5 years of experience in each of the following:
    • Managing Kubernetes operations across multiple cloud providers
    • Building tools for cloud infrastructure platforms with Go, Python, and Terraform;
    • Distributed computing, including architecting, developing, and deploying distributed services across cloud platforms and regions;
    • AWS and Azure;
    • MySQL and PostgreSQL;
    • Experience in a Saas environment; and
    • Writing technical documents.

All experience may be gained concurrently.

How We'll Take Care of You

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 40+ hours per week; $213,173.78 per year.

Base pay may be based on various factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance depending on the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
