What You'll Do

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our development team and design/implement integrations on the Salesforce application for our cutting-edge tax compliance solutions.

  • AI-First Expectations: Use AI copilots, code generation tools, and assistants (e.g., Agentforce, Cursor, ChatGPT etc) to improve coding efficiency, testing, documentation, and prototyping.
  • AI-First Capability Requirements: Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate or improve software development processes and Prompt Engineering best practices - Commitment to learning and applying AI advancements relevant to your domain. - Understanding of responsible AI principles (data privacy, bias mitigation, hallucinations).
  • Integrations and Connectors: Dig into our cloud-native Avalara product suite. We are looking to build and expand our market penetration through an extensive suite of integrations and connectors through a flexible, extensible platform capable of handling any source platforms. At the same time, we want to expose all the tax nuances through our integrations. Help us build this while maximizing performance, scalability, and reliability and making it “oh-so-simple” to operate.
  • You'll be reporting directly to an engineering manager.

  • Design, development, testing, and deployment of integrations for Salesforce applications.

  • Participate in the entire software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Supporting, maintaining, and improving the working of existing Salesforce applications for optimal functionality.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to Salesforce integrations and applications.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure that the best practices for the existing and new Salesforce solutions are implemented.
  • Stay updated with new Salesforce features & functionalities and recommend best practices to enhance the existing Salesforce implementations.
  • Create technical documentation for the applications, like user guides, release notes and design documents.
  • Develop and maintain custom applications on the Salesforce platform using Apex, Visualforce and other technologies.
  • Creating and maintaining integrations with other applications and systems using web services and APIs.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and other developers to identify and implement improvements for the system.
  • Ensuring compliance with security and development standards of Salesforce.
  • Implement robust error handling, data validation, and data transformation mechanisms to ensure data integrity and accuracy during integration processes.
  • Optimize integration performance and scalability to accommodate a growing number of clients and increasing data volumes.
  • Build POCs to demonstrate the technical solution feasibility.
  • Implement and follow agile/scrum processes.
  • Optimize code to improve application efficiency.
  • Take necessary corrective measures to address problems in application.

    • Required skills and qualifications

      • 4 years of bachelor's degree in computer science.

      • 4+ years of full stack experience in Salesforce application design and development.

      • Good understanding of using AI tools, code generation tools, and assistants (e.g., Agentforce, Cursor, ChatGPT etc)
      • Good understanding of Object-oriented programming languages.

      • Proficient understanding of Salesforce administration and development, including Salesforce lightning framework, Salesforce Sales Cloud, Salesforce Service Cloud, Salesforce Revenue Cloud and Salesforce Experience cloud.

      • Knowledge of Apex, Visualforce and other Salesforce development technologies.

      • Understanding of Salesforce data model, including standard and custom objects, relationships and fields.

      • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

      • Good experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and other data interchange formats.

      • Familiarity with authentication protocols like OAuth and token-based authentication.

      • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to be able to solve complex problems and critical production issues.

      • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software projects on time.

      Preferred skills and qualifications

      • Salesforce certifications, like Platform Developer I or II, App Builder or Administrator.
      • Experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery.
      • Knowledge of DevOps and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) processes.
