Bloomberg News is seeking a Data Visualization Reporter in Washington DC. You’ll display data-driven insights that help readers understand news events through clear and informative charts, maps, diagrams and data visualization. This role will focus on economic and government coverage, working alongside reporters and editors in the Washington bureau who cover government policy, regulation, politics, courts, corporate influence and other economic drivers.

We’re looking for someone who can leverage their knowledge of government data and other sources to create graphics when news breaks, and to develop visual narratives as news events unfold. Our team is highly collaborative and we value people who are motivated to work with others and pitch in to ensure our contributions to newsroom coverage are timely.

To apply, please submit your resume along with samples of your work by Sunday, April 27, 2025.

We’ll trust you to:
  • Rely on your exceptional curiosity, technical prowess and design sensibilities to create informative maps, charts and other graphics in response to news, planned and unplanned
  • Work efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with team members and newsroom colleagues on visual projects important to Bloomberg News readers
  • Possess experience covering economics and government policy — or an eagerness to develop subject-matter expertise in these areas

You’ll need:
  • Strong sense of visual design, layout and typography, as well as familiarity with design software, including Adobe Illustrator and Figma
  • Experience reporting on varied deadlines and crafting visual narratives with data
  • Experience with data reporting — the ability to collect, manage, munge and analyze data from various sources and formats using R, Python, or other programmatic methods
  • Experience with front-end web development is preferred but not required
