About GFANZ:
The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) is an independent, private-sector-led initiative focused on mobilizing capital and removing barriers to investment in the global transition.
GFANZ brings together financial sector firms that recognize the opportunity created by the transition – including banks, insurers, asset owners, asset managers, and service providers. It helps drive transition finance and unlock private capital at scale through support for capacity building and the development of innovative financing opportunities and solutions.
A Principals Group composed of CEOs from major firms approves the strategic direction of GFANZ, which is globally active through its Regional Networks in Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America & Caribbean, as well as Chapters in Brazil, the Caribbean, Japan, and Hong Kong.
Role Overview:
This role supports key climate finance initiatives at Bloomberg, including Bloomberg Philanthropies’ climate finance work, the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), the Climate Data Steering Committee (CDSC), the Net Zero Data Public Utility (NZDPU), and the Global Capacity Building Coalition (GCBC), with a particular focus on engagement with European Union (EU) stakeholders. Responsibilities include managing staff-level stakeholder relationships, tracking policy developments, and ensuring alignment across Bloomberg’s climate finance efforts on EU-related activities. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams, particularly colleagues based in Brussels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyse EU climate finance policy developments, including legislative and regulatory processes, sustainability and financial regulation implementation, carbon markets, and wider climate-related initiatives affecting the financial sector. Share regular updates with relevant Bloomberg teams, including Bloomberg Philanthropies, GFANZ, CDSC, GCBC, and NZDPU.
- Develop and maintain staff-level relationships with key EU stakeholders, including regulators, policy departments, financial institutions, and industry groups, to support Bloomberg’s climate finance initiatives.
- Prepare concise, actionable briefings, reports, and updates on EU policy trends, regulatory changes, and stakeholder perspectives to inform Bloomberg climate finance leads.
- Support the coordination and delivery of meetings, roundtables, and events with European stakeholders, including drafting agendas, preparing briefing materials, and compiling post-event summaries. Provide general event support to the Bloomberg Brussels office as needed.
- Assess intersections between EU policy developments and Bloomberg’s climate finance work, identifying opportunities for alignment and collaboration across initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in climate finance, sustainable finance, public policy, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of EU policymaking processes, with particular expertise in financial regulation, sustainability reporting, and climate finance frameworks.
- Experience working with European institutions, regulatory bodies, and financial sector stakeholders.
- Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills, with the ability to present complex policy developments clearly and succinctly.
- Strong project management capabilities, with experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
