Bloomberg Intelligence offers an exciting opportunity for a Hydrogen Pricing & Chemicals Industry Analyst to join a growing research team.
The Role
The Hydrogen & Chemicals Analyst continually develops and manages a network of hydrogen industry participants representing buyers, sellers, and market intermediaries. Following specific guidelines the analyst regularly engages with and gathers data from market participants to develop proprietary price assessments for key product and regional markets. The analyst also produces insights on chemicals industry market trends in the form of Bloomberg Intelligence products.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to develop a strong network within the hydrogen gas industry to undertake price discovery and ascertain market developments. The role requires communicating with market participants on the buy and sell side, learning/knowing/uncovering market trends and developments, and synthesizing this information to develop proprietary pricing intelligence to be used across relevant markets by a variety of constituents.
You will be responsible for sourcing market sentiment information, reacting to feedback from clients and company stakeholders, and managing ad-hoc projects that are part of the overall product strategy. Your knowledge will also play a central part in the marketing of any product launch.
Skillsets Required:
- 3+ years of professional experience in analyzing, buying or selling hydrogen gas products
- Credible contacts in the U.S. hydrogen gas market and/or a strong understanding of the companies operating in this industry
- Superlative communication, interpersonal, networking and relationship development skills
- Analytical and information gathering skills combined with the ability to develop conclusions on market pricing trends
- BS degree minimum
- English fluency

Project Requirements
- Develop a proprietary hydrogen gas price and market sentiment source network
- Work within a pricing discovery process provided to you by Bloomberg that includes:
- Use of salesforce automation software that simplifies and organizes network development; provides activity tracking using established methods and best practices
- Use of a source and pricing data tracking tool to organize data and provide transparency of network/source feedback.
- Use of Bloomberg email systems.
- Operate within established ethical guidelines to be provided
- Obtain current market prices and market sentiment narrative for merchant hydrogen gas products
- Market Regions of Interest:
- United States, Gulf Coast
- Western Europe
- Write about market and profitability trends in the chemicals industry, drawing conclusions from Bloomberg’s rich portfolio of industry data and conversations with market contacts
Candidate Profile
- Salesperson or business analyst in a company currently engaged in the production of hydrogen gas (see associated Excel list of companies)
- Buyer/procurement professional or business analyst from company purchasing hydrogen gas as an input to their manufacturing processes
- Broker of hydrogen gas products
- Current or previous company affiliation is member of directly-related trade association
- Experience as market analyst covering hydrogen (or similar product categories) at specialist market research firms such as Platts (not from multi-industry research firms including Grandview, Markets and Markets, Market Data Forecasts, Research and Markets)
