Our Team

Bloomberg’s Global Infrastructure, Data Center & Workplace Sustainability teams manage the performance of our buildings and services in more than 160 locations worldwide including our mission critical datacenters. We support day-to-day maintenance and operations, capital improvements and new data center construction projects. Our group works closely with the Global Real Estate (GRE) and Engineering teams to maintain and deliver state of the art data centers to meet organizational needs. We also work closely with Global Sustainability Office (GSO) and other internal partners to operationalize Bloomberg’s ESG strategy and deliver against enterprise-wide sustainability commitments.

What’s the Role?

The Critical infrastructure Data Center Site Manager will provide daily oversight in one of Bloomberg’s Data Center Facilities. Responsibilities including maintenance, operation and repair of our Data Center Facilities as pertains to Electrical, Mechanical, Fire and Life Safety systems. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of Data Center operations including planned maintenance events, incident response, incident management and escalation as is typical with roles of this nature. The candidate will oversee all aspects of daily facility operations, ensuring 100% uptime, physical security, and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards

We’ll Trust You To:

Technical

Experience with the operation and maintenance of Critical Infrastructure and Systems.

Experience with Project Management of Critical Infrastructure and Systems upgrades, replacements and repairs.

Experience and knowledge within a data center environment including Utility Systems, UPS Systems, Emergency Generator Systems, Electrical Distribution, Chilled Water Systems, Critical Air Handling / Conditioning Systems, Pre-Action Systems and Fire Alarm / Protection Systems.

Experience with managing and directing Critical Infrastructure and System events for maintenance and testing programs.

Experience and Knowledge with Building Management Systems and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems and Operations.

Experience and Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Systems and work process management

Experience and Knowledge with documentation techniques including Method of Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, Root Cause Analysis and Change Management.

Experience with reading and understanding Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and Architectural Plans and Specifications.

Site Management

Provide leadership to the Data Center Facilities team with a broad set of responsibilities; manage tactical and strategic activities with focus on continuous improvement.

Manage the Data Center Facility to obtain maximum operational resiliency and efficiency.

Schedule and supervise the performance of both routine maintenance and emergency service on critical systems, including: diesel generators, UPS systems, electrical switchgear, power distribution equipment, chillers, HVAC equipment, fire detection/suppression and building monitoring systems.

Coordination with Bloomberg departments including Engineering, Network Operations, Security and other internal departments.

Experience with vendor management including training programs and overall staff development.

Experience with site safety and environmental compliance.

Manage and supervise all Ticketing and Reporting Systems.

Responsible for Data Center site safety and environmental compliance. Ensure the Data Center complies with all local, state, and federal health and safety requirements.

Manage all Data Center Facility documentation including Plans, Procedures and Operations Manuals.

Manage Data Center Facilities Training programs and overall staff development.

Management and approval of vendor contracts and agreements.

On-call 24x7 for incident management and data center emergency response.

Financial

Management of Data Center budget for maintenance, repairs, capital and general operating costs.

Management of operational costs and vendor specific budgets and allocations across the data center.

Manage and approve vendor purchase orders, invoices and cost tracking utilizing industry best practices.

Experience and knowledge coordinating and supporting Operational Expenditures (OPEX) and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) projects in critical environments.

You’ll Need to Have:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering or equivalent work experience of ten (10) years.

Relevant experience working and operating systems in critical environments of five (5) years.

Experience in managing data center operations and driving collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams to execute objectives.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to Word and Excel.

We’d Love to See:

Experience with the design of data center specific and critical mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems including engineering calculations and specification development.

Proficiency and understanding of Data Center Information Technology (IT) Systems including telecom networks, switches, routers, servers, storage, cabling systems.

Manage and oversee compliance with regulatory requirements, including internal and external controls.

Track and analyze power usage effectiveness (PUE) and suggest mechanical or electrical adjustments to reduce energy consumption.

Certified Facilities, Data Center or Professional Engineer accreditations

Comprehensive knowledge of building communication protocols and equipment

Sustainability / LEED experience
