About the Team
The ENG FiD Emerging Markets team brings fixed income data to Bloomberg's clients on a scalable, reliable, and performant platform. We're responsible for the security data across — corporates, governments, municipals, money markets, and securitized products.
This is a newly formed team. You'll be among the founding engineers shaping architecture, culture, and direction — startup-level ownership, backed by an established global company. You'll work with product managers and the data department to turn complex domain problems into high-performance software. We choose engineers for how they think, not just what they've shipped.
We provide real-time financial calculation, analytics, and instrument data solutions that fixed income professionals rely on to price, analyze, and trade securities across every major asset class mentioned above. We are responsible for onboarding and representing the full lifecycle of these instruments, from new issuance through maturity, ensuring that every security is accurately identified, classified, and enriched with the data our clients need. Our systems serve portfolio managers, traders, and analysts at the world's largest financial institutions with the accuracy, speed, and reliability that global markets demand around the clock.
As a developer on this team, you'll work across the full stack of instrument data and analytics, solving hard problems at the intersection of financial markets and large-scale software engineering.

We'll trust you to:
- Build the systems that deliver fixed income data to Bloomberg clients — C++, high volume, high accuracy
- Own architecture decisions for a newly formed team
- Collaborate across Pune, London, and New York
- Set engineering standards and mentor as the team grows
You'll need to have
- 7+ years building production systems (10+ preferred)
- Comfort with ambiguity — you ask "why" before "how" and translate vague requirements into concrete plans
- Technology trade-off reasoning — you can justify the choices in your own systems under questioning: why this technology, what you gave up, and when you would choose differently
- System design skills — you reason about consistency, failure modes, and observability in distributed architectures. You know when a design is over-engineered and when it is not engineered enough
- Review and critique — you read others' code with the same rigor you apply to your own, reviewing for correctness, not just style
- Testing discipline and CI/CD — you test because it matters, and you automate what you can
- Ownership — you care about what happens after deployment, not just before merge
- Engineering influence — you have influenced technical direction or grown engineers around you
We'd love to see:
- Strong proficiency in C++, Java, or similar object-oriented language
- Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript or similar scripting language
- Experience with high-volume, low-latency systems where correctness and performance are both non-negotiable
