Join the Pioneers of Trading Technology:
Imagine working on a team that's revolutionising the way financial markets operate, with trillions of dollars traded on your systems every day.
The Cross-Asset Trading System (CATS) Blotter is a powerful platform that provides a consistent base for Bloomberg trading applications. We provide infrastructure, frameworks and the frontend used at the core of some of the most demanding trading applications at Bloomberg.
You’ll be building a scalable, reliable, high volume platform, and solving some of the toughest problems in software with industry experts.
What we do
We design and build a reusable, business-agnostic platform that takes care of the fundamental use cases common to many trading workflows. In CATS, performance is critical and extensible architectural design is key so, by joining our team, you’ll face interesting technical challenges alongside your strong team of colleagues who value quality above all.
As a Senior Software Engineer in CATS, you'll be part of a full-stack platform team that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible with TypeScript, Redux and React, as well as our Data Publishing Pipelines and backend services and getting the most out of the Bloomberg Terminal infrastructure. Our mission is to super-charge and unify the trading system worlds to reimagine how powerful trading systems are built at Bloomberg.
Who we are
We are a friendly, collaborative team who care about what we do and working to improve ourselves and our systems every day. The onboarding experience is a priority for us: we have extensive onboarding documentation and videos, and you will be assigned a dedicated mentor who will support you from day one. We are a global team, with members in both London and New York.

Technical challenges
- Use and expand your software architecture skills: you’ll design and build re-usable, business-agnostic software.
- Write code that will stand the test of time and inform top decision makers. These complex systems showcase and interact with large volumes of data at high speed.
- Develop and deploy both frontend and backend systems with challenges ranging from complex state management, client-side Terminal integration, and data subscription pipelines that support numerous trading instruments.
Collaborative team culture
- We love to learn together. We encourage collaboration, pair programming, and working on projects and technical designs as a team.
- We encourage involvement in Guilds, meetups, training, communities, and exploring all the learning opportunities that Bloomberg provides.
- We support side projects -- decide what matters to you and make a difference.
- Want to lead projects? We have many opportunities to take on a challenge and carve out a niche for yourself.
