AI Solutions Architect
Office of Information Technology
The AI Solutions Architect will be the technical lead responsible for the implementation of AI-driven systems. This position will explore and prototype using a variety of AI and automation technologies to understand capabilities and fit for Brown’s environment and business needs, establishing best practices for AI development in our newly created AI team. They will collaborate with the Director, AI and Business Enablement to translate complex business challenges to scalable technical architectures that align with University security and data standards.
Education and Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred
5-7 years of experience in solution architecture, software development, integration, business intelligence, or a related technical role
2+ years hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, particularly large language models, prompt engineering, and/or AI application development through project work, rapid prototyping, or self-directed technical development
Experience designing, implementing, or administrating enterprise solutions, preferably in higher education or other complex organizational environments preferred
Experience with agile development methodologies and iterative solution delivery preferred
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, particularly large language models and prompt engineering
Proficiency in at least one programming language (such as Python)
Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations in AI applications
Experience with API consumption and integration (such as REST APIs, JSON, and webhooks) preferred
Experience with automation platforms and workflow tools preferred. This could range from low-code/no-code tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Automate, Zapier, n8n, IFFFT, Excel Macros) to developer-centric automation (e.g., GitHub Actions, Python scripts)
Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles preferred

A successful completion of a criminal background check and education verification is required.
