The Office of Communications & Marketing at Bryn Mawr College is currently seeking a full-time Web Writer & Content Specialist for a 12-month appointment. Reporting to the Director of Digital Strategy and Engagement in the Office of College Communications and Marketing, the Web Writer & Content Specialist creates, edits, and maintains clear, user-centered content for the College website and related digital channels, including internal platforms and email communications. The role ensures Bryn Mawr’s content reflects the College’s voice, values, and priorities while serving key audiences across the institution. The Web Writer & Content Specialist partners with campus departments to translate complex academic and administrative information into accessible, well-structured digital content.

Characteristic Responsibilities:
Web and Digital Content Writing
Write, edit, and maintain high-quality content across Bryn Mawr’s website and related digital channels ensuring clarity, accuracy, tone, and consistency.
Serve as a steward of the College’s digital voice, helping departments align their content with institutional messaging, branding, and style guidelines.
Work with campus partners to understand their programs, audiences, and goals and translate that knowledge into effective digital content.
Lead content reviews and rewrites for departmental sites and communications, including restructuring content, improving readability, and clarifying messaging.
Collaborate on website refreshes, launches, and content initiatives by developing, editing, and organizing content for new or updated pages and messages.
Adapt and repurpose content for different formats, audiences, and distribution channels while maintaining consistency of voice and message.
Develop and maintain content calendars to support ongoing maintenance and improvement.
Stay informed about best practices in web writing, content design, and user-centered communication.
Accessibility, Quality, and Performance
Edit and review content to ensure compliance with accessibility standards, including plain-language best practices, heading structure, and document accessibility.
Serve as a liaison with document remediation vendors and campus partners to ensure accessible, usable content.
Use website analytics and user behavior data to inform content improvements and evaluate whether content is meeting audience needs.
Prepare and share basic content performance reports with campus partners to support data-informed content decisions.
Provide guidance and training to campus partners on writing for the web and other digital communication tools. This includes group sessions, documentation, and one-on-one support.
Website Asset Coordination
Collaborate with Creative Services colleagues to curate photo and document assets for departmental website use.
Submit photo and video requests to Creative Services, as related to elevating the website with visual and interactive assets.
Gather news articles from the Editorial Services team to build engaging, dynamic news and story posts on the website.
Collaborate with College Communications colleagues to execute the team’s asset syndication model across the website.
Partner with graphic and multimedia designers to source website content as needed.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, marketing, digital media, or a related field required. Master’s degree in relevant field or relevant professional certifications preferred.
Minimum 2 years related professional experience in web writing or content development. Relevant higher education or nonprofit experience a plus.
Experience writing or editing content with SEO best practices in mind, including headings, metadata, and keyword strategy.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences and multiple digital formats, including websites, email, and internal communication platforms.
Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple content projects simultaneously.
Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of campus partners.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
