We are seeking an influential, future-focused Chief Data Officer to architect the next generation of our enterprise data ecosystem. In this role, the SVP will shape the vision for how data and AI accelerate innovation, unlock new revenue opportunities, and enable intelligent decision making at scale. They will steward our global data platform, modernize data governance, and elevate a data first culture across every function. This leader will ensure data is trusted, accessible, and strategically activated to power advanced analytics and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Set Vision & Strategy: Define and execute the enterprise-wide data strategy—encompassing streaming, at-rest, and cloud data—aligned with business goals and growth ambitions.
Lead & Inspire: Build and empower high-performing, diverse teams that thrive on collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Drive Business Value: Partner with business and technology leaders to identify opportunities for innovation, operational excellence, and new revenue streams through data.
Champion Data Quality & Governance: Develop and own the data governance framework, ensuring robust quality, integrity, privacy, and ethical use across the enterprise. Ensure compliance with relevant global regulations
Accelerate AI Adoption: Lead the deployment of generative AI and support advanced analytics, embedding transformative solutions into core business processes.
Deliver Scalable Solutions: Architect and deliver the global data platform that supports business, regulatory, and client needs, enabling deep insights and product innovation.
Engage Stakeholders: Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, regulators, and vendors (e.g., Snowflake, Sigma, AWS) to advance Cboe’s data objectives.
Foster Data Literacy: Act as a catalyst for cultural change, embedding data-driven thinking and championing AI literacy across all levels of the organization.
Promote Engagement and Retention: Strengthen engagement and retention by setting impactful objectives, fostering innovation, and ensuring diverse perspectives are integral to our culture and the way we achieve our goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, finance, operations, product, and other teams to deliver actionable insights and solutions.
Data Security & Access Controls: Define and manage data access controls, user permissions, and data security practices to safeguard sensitive information.
Metrics & KPIs: Establish a rigorous measurement discipline including KPI governance to ensure data investments drive measurable outcomes such as data quality and informed decision making across Cboe.
Strategic Focus:
Lead Cboe’s data-driven future, empowering decision-making and delivering trusted intelligence platforms, AI solutions, and enabling actionable analytics.
Extend our Data Platform to include all Cboe data that unlocks access to consistent and high-quality analytics across the enterprise.
Accelerate revenue growth by partnering with Data Vantage developing differentiated data products and monetizing proprietary data.
Elevate productivity and decision-making with scalable, intelligent data tools for internal and external stakeholders.
Drive ethical and responsible AI adoption, ensuring compliance and trust.
Leadership Expectations:
Inspire and retain top talent through autonomy, impactful projects, and a culture of innovation and performance management.
Foster a collaborative, strategic, and highly engaged team environment—encouraging bold thinking and translating ambitious ideas into real-world outcomes.
Engage with the Board, executive team, industry associations and external partners on key initiatives, including AI, data strategy, and regulatory compliance.
Model continuous learning and professional development.
Qualifications/Experience:
Master’s degree in technical or analytical fields (e.g., Financial Math, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering).
15+ years in analytics/technology in Financial Markets, including 10+ years in leadership.
Substantial senior leadership experience in a highly regulated environment developing data governance and data management processes. CDO experience preferred.
Proven success building and scaling high-performing, diverse data teams.
Deep expertise in cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake), analytics tools (e.g., Sigma, SageMaker), and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
Experience with both on-premises and cloud applications.
Track record of deploying enterprise-wide AI solutions and reviewing technical solutions/code (SQL, Python, Java).
Exceptional communication skills, able to present complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to drive change, uncover insights, anticipate needs, and deliver enterprise-wide impact.
Experience leading ethical data use, privacy, and responsible AI.
Experience thriving in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $272,000-$336,000 per year. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by actual work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay, our total rewards program includes an annual variable pay program and benefits including healthcare (medical, dental and vision), 401 (k) with a generous company match, life and disability insurance, paid time off, market-leading tuition assistance, and much more!
