Job Description:

Our Opportunity:

At Chewy, our mission is to be the most trusted and convenient destination for pet parents everywhere. As a Staff UX Researcher, you will play a meaningful role in understanding the needs of pet parents and their pet healthcare partners – uncovering unmet needs, identifying meaningful gaps, and translating insight into action. Building product, service innovation and elevating the experience for the countless households who rely on Chewy to care for their pets.

This is a high-impact, strategic role. You will define and drive research across complex and evolving problem spaces, uncover unmet needs, and translate insights into clear product and business opportunities. You will work closely with partners across retail to improve the overall retail and Autoship experiences using deep customer behavioral insights to deliver the easiest-to-use recurring delivery service, ensuring customers have just the right product at the right time

You’ll partner closely with build, product, engineering, analytics, and research leadership to elevate how customer insights inform decisions. Beyond delivering excellent research, you will help build what is next at Chewy - raising standards, mentoring others, and strengthening our research culture.

If you are energized by ambiguity, passionate about improving pet health, and motivated to create meaningful customer impact at scale, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and lead research strategy across complex, ambiguous problem spaces
  • Drive high-impact research initiatives that influence product roadmaps and long-term vision
  • Identify unmet customer needs and translate findings into actionable opportunity areas
  • Connect research insights to measurable customer and business outcomes
  • Guide cross-functional partners through discovery and alignment in areas with knowledge gaps
  • Advocate for customer-centered decision-making at all levels of the organization
  • Mentor researchers and contribute to raising research quality, rigor, and storytelling standards
  • Plan, scope, and execute end-to-end research programs using appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods

What You’ll Need

  • 7+ years of experience in UX research, human-centered build research, academic research, or a comparable area
  • 4+ years leading large-scale, cross-functional research initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy and senior stakeholders
  • Strong experience working in ambiguous spaces and defining research direction from scratch
  • Excellent storytelling skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex insights
  • A track record of delivering research that drove measurable product or business impact
  • Experience mentoring or coaching researchers and elevating research standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
