Overview:
Citi Markets COO is looking for Price Risk Data – Pune Lead, supporting the Price Risk book of work and data controls team. ‘Price Risk’ includes all aspects of market risk management across First Line and Second Line functions and the program sets out to improve completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of valuations and risk sensitivities data calculated and provisioned by Markets.
Role Context
The role will be part of a Markets Price and Credit Risk Data team, within Markets COO, charged with ensuring the timely execution of deliverables to design, define and implement data controls across Price Risk Data, whilst imparting their subject matter expertise and know-how to be able to provide meaningful solutions that are functional and sustainable. The team is responsible for driving transformation in underlying risk and control processes to manage poor data quality risk.
The role requires knowledge of Price Risk processes covering inventory, valuations, front-to-back controls, market risk processes (Value-at-Risk VaR, Stress-testing), model risk (including model methodology and validation), product control (P&L explain), IPV (Independent Price Verification) and Citi’s data flows supporting risk and valuations across all asset classes in Markets. This role will require building and developing a data risk and control team in Pune to support data analytics for successful execution of program deliverables and implementing a best in class target state control framework, Monitor and report on key data quality metrics and indicators and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (within Trading Desks, Markets Risk and Control, Quants, Technology and Risk Management and Finance) to resolve data quality issues. Role will also involve leading engagements with Internal Audit and regulators. A strong risk and control background, practical approach to mitigating data control exceptions and ability to organize and develop a team is essential.

Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Price Risk Data and Price Risk Data Leads to drive execution of strategic deliverables aligned to Price Risk Data
- Work with relevant Citi leadership to define a target state data control operating model for Price Risk to support effective management of controls
- Understand the data quality issues aligned with that data set including end to end data flows and controls and ensure these are addressed in the defined target state solution with robust controls
- Recruit and develop a data controls team with specialist data analysis and/or risk and control skillsets to operate controls
- Assess the effectiveness of existing data quality controls and recommend improvements
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to risk mitigation strategies related to data quality.
- Monitor and report on key data quality metrics and indicators, including prioritization of data quality issues
- Liaise with Internal Audit stakeholders and regulators to articulate controls implementation, data quality metrics and associated remedial actions
Qualifications & skills:
- 15+ years of experience in relevant fields of Market Risk Management, Product Control or product valuation specialist with First Line and/or Second Line experience or in an associated consulting role
- Excellent oral and written communications skills; must be articulate and persuasive with the judgement and authority to provide insightful commentary to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to handle complexity, ambiguity and a fast changing, often demanding work environment
- Self-starting with the ability to multitask and prioritize
- Good knowledge of data used in Price Risk processes (trade, market data, reference data), data governance and lineage – experience in operationalizing golden sources of data
- Experience in post-trade risk and valuation infrastructure
- Ability to drive change to business practices by working effectively across a global organization.
- Ability to analyse large data sets and recommend ways to improve quality, controls, and efficiency
- Must be proficient with Excel - Use of Python, SQL, Digital tools would be a significant plus
- Project management and change capabilities
- Capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with follow-up and problem-solving capability
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
Master’s degree is "Good to Have"
