The Engineer Intmd Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and development of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance with a product or product component development within the technology domain
  • Conduct product evaluations with vendors and recommend product customization for integration with systems
  • Assist with training activities, mentor junior team members and ensure team’s adherence to all control and compliance initiatives
  • Assist with application prototyping and recommend solutions around implementation
  • Provide third line support to identify the root cause of issues and react to systems and application outages or networking issues
  • Support projects and provide project status updates to project manager or Sr. Engineer
  • Partner with development teams to identify engineering requirements and assist with defining application/system requirements and processes
  • Create installation documentation, training materials, and deliver technical training to support the organization
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

The role will be focused on shifting Production Management towards a proactive, predictive model using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. Key experience required in areas like SRE, Observability, or Data Engineering, along with a strong understanding of incident management, automation (using tools like SQL and Python), and collaboration across different teams. The roles will leverage AI to improve issues escalation and diagnosis.

Incident Management: Deep understanding of incident response, recovery processes, and engineering operations in enterprise environments & the related KPIs

Automation: Champion automation initiatives to streamline operational tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual intervention. This includes scripting for automated health checks, alerting, and remediation.

Collaboration: Work closely with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration throughout the incident lifecycle. Participate in post-mortem analysis and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

The role is vital for seamless operation of business-critical applications used by Citi clients, internal bankers, and operations teams. Additionally, the resource will support user facing applications which integrate with other internal and external applications to facilitate seamless communications.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Core Mainframe Proficiency: Solid understanding of z/OS, MVS, and dataset management (including VSAM). Advanced proficiency in JCL for all aspects of batch processing and utility usage.
  • Programming & Application Support: Strong COBOL programming and debugging skills, with experience in COBOL-DB2 program development.
  • Database Expertise (DB2): In-depth knowledge of DB2 for z/OS concepts, advanced SQL, and experience with DB2 utilities and basic performance analysis.
  • Reporting & Integration: Experience with EZT (Easytrieve) for reporting and data manipulation. Understanding and practical experience with z/OS APIs for integrating mainframe applications (e.g., RESTful services, JSON/XML).
  • Middleware & Connectivity: Operational expertise with NDM (Connect:Direct) for file transfers and IBM MQ for messaging, including troubleshooting.
  • Incident & Operations Management: Proven ability to resolve complex production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and adhere to change management processes.
  • Monitoring & Debugging: Experience with mainframe monitoring tools (e.g., OMEGAMON, SYSVIEW) and advanced debugging across various mainframe components.
  • Documentation: Strong ability to create and maintain technical documentation.

Distributed

Core technical skills in operating systems (Linuz – Rhel), databases ( Oracle, Mongo DB), middleware/application layers ( websphere, ngnix, tomcat), message queues (IBM MQ, Kafka) Strong scripting and automation skills eg phython, shell scripting and experience in AI/ML will be an added advantage.
