Role overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced professional to join our Investor Services Operational Change team in a hybrid Senior Project Manager and Business Analyst Lead role. This position is critical for leading and shaping client initiatives within our Fund Accounting and Middle Office businesses.
The ideal candidate will be a recognized technical authority who can drive operational change, filter and validate complex material from multiple sources, and contribute to the directional strategy of the business. This role requires a unique blend of project leadership, sophisticated analysis, and the ability to influence and guide senior stakeholders, internal teams, and external clients. As a key partner to international investment institutions, a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Program Leadership: Lead, coordinate, and successfully implement multiple, complex projects and programs across Operations, in close partnership with Product, Technology, and external clients.
- Strategic Analysis: Provide sophisticated analysis and interpretive thinking to define complex problems, complete complex analysis, and influence strategic functional decisions.
- Planning & Execution: Formulate detailed project plans, including analysis of effort, cost, and impact on various Citi businesses to ensure timely execution and mitigate potential risks.
- Team Management: Build, manage, and lead effective project teams, which may include the direct or indirect management of Business Analysts and other project members. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to guide senior stakeholders and team members.
- Stakeholder & Client Partnership: Act as a trusted partner to clients and internal business partners. Guide, influence, and convince others through strong communication and diplomacy skills.
- Risk & Control: Proactively identify, manage, and escalate project risks to minimize implementation issues. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and its assets.
- Innovation & Improvement: Challenge the status quo, display initiative, and drive competitive differentiation by proposing and implementing innovative solutions and process improvements.
- Documentation & Governance: Ensure all necessary project documentation is created and maintained to Citi standards and that all required project approvals are obtained.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 6-10 years of relevant experience in Project Management, Business Analysis, or operational improvement areas (e.g., Lean, re-engineering programs).
- Client-Facing Skills: Proven experience in driving projects with external clients and the ability to influence them directly.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience working with asset management clients on various investment fund vehicles (e.g., OEICS, Segregated) or in Investor Services operations is essential. A comprehensive understanding of how different business areas integrate to achieve objectives is required.
- Methodology: Strong understanding of project management or business analysis methodologies and tools. Knowledge of the PMBOK or BABOK standard and/or a PMP certification is advantageous.
- Core Skills:
- Excellent command of English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize tasks, manage personal capacity, and operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- An eagerness to grasp the Operations business and understand financial markets.
- Education: Bachelor’s/University degree required; Master’s degree is preferred.
