Position Details:

Title: Risk Management Specialist

Location: Buffalo, NY 14210 (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 months contract

Pay range: $40/hr to $45/hr

About the Role:
The Business Financial Crime Risk (BFCR) CSEM Officer operates within the Corporate & Institutional Business (CIB) Business Risk team. This team is tasked with overseeing and mitigating both Financial and Non-Financial Risks in the First Line of Defense. The role involves providing specialist risk support across key areas such as First Line Controls, Financial Crime, Fraud, Resilience, and Regulatory Governance. The position is an interim role to support the team during a transition period.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the day-to-day operations of US CSEM, ensuring efficient decision-making and execution of client exits.
  • Facilitate decisions around client exits at the country level by coordinating with key stakeholders including CIB, Compliance, Product Representatives, and Risk Stewards.
  • Work closely with the broader US CSEM team to maintain accurate records of all cases presented, logging completed cases, and identifying cases requiring further information or actions.
  • Validate triggers by liaising with submitters from various sources such as Relationship Managers and Business Banking Analysts.
  • Ensure the exit process is timely, orderly, and structured to safeguard against potential reputational, operational, regulatory, or legal risks.
  • Assist in managing any CSEM policy changes and potential impacts on the US CSEM process.
  • Coordinate US CSEM input to ensure responsibilities related to reputational risk and client selection processes are discharged.
  • Support local execution of CSEM Quality Control and Quality Assurance results, engaging with stakeholders to deliver necessary actions.
  • Manage local decisions to ensure informed and objective decisions are made regarding client retention or exit, in line with financial crime risk management and compliance obligations.
Education Qualification:
  • Relevant educational background in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of financial crime risk management and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Experience in validating and assessing risk triggers.
  • Proficiency in managing policy changes and understanding their impacts on processes.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to make informed and objective decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
