Description of Work Unit | Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities. The Department of Physics maintains a tradition of excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Department Research Scientist/Scholars participate in research on three continents with programs in many of the most active and exciting areas of physics. |
Position Summary | The Department of Physics seeks applications from individuals who are interested in Research Scientist/Scholar I, II, III and Senior positions within the department which are temporary or special appointments for the 2025-2026 academic year. A detailed description of the department and Research Scientist/Scholars are available on the department web page http://www.physics.colostate.edu A signing bonus of up to $2500 may be considered for successful candidates depending on experience and education. |
Required Job Qualifications |
Ranking and qualifications within these levels are done on a case-by-case basis with factors that include the publication record, past research funding, professional honors and awards, decisive discoveries, and management experience. Applicable department research areas include, among others, theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular optics, and high energy and astrophysics. The department also provides instruction for both undergraduate and graduate students. |
