POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Director, AI Native Applications & Automations is accountable for building and executing on the strategy of the Center of Excellence for Automation. This technology leader will join forces with business and product leaders to plan, build, execute and deliver a multi-year roadmap for developing AI Native Web Applications starting from Proof Of Concepts to feature rich Applications deployed to our production environments. These applications will align to our Automation and Innovation strategy. The Director will lead a diverse team of full time employees and contract software engineers, ML engineers and QA engineers working across multiple geographies to deliver through multiple agile software releases each year. Accountable for driving the technology strategy, this leader will be responsible for design, development, testing, delivery, and growth and ensure all opportunities to build industry leading technology assets are fully realized.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for leading the strategy and implementation of the roadmap for our Automation Center of Excellence.
  • Accountable for assessment of software engineering practices, driving continuous improvement, improving operational efficiency, time to market and overall product quality
  • Leading engineering teams, guiding and mentoring them in implementing solutions across a wide range of continually evolving technology platforms
  • People management including hiring, performance management, team building, leading career growth and skill development through coaching, and setting measurable professional goals
  • Building and cultivating strong relationships with Business, Product and Technology partners to support the delivery roadmap
  • Building relationships and partnerships with vendors to build contingent teams working onshore and offshore/nearshore to support our staffing needs
  • Building relationships and partnerships with solution vendors in support of our technology needs
  • Technology Research and Innovation to develop a long-term strategy based on emerging trends in AI.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technology Skills
    • 10+ years of Technology Delivery experience using Agile methodologies.
    • 5+ years of experience in development of microservices using python, java [spring boot]
    • 5+ years of experience in development of front end using javascript frameworks such as Angular.
    • 5+ years of experience in containerization tools and technologies such as kubernetes, docker etc.
    • 5+ years of experience with version control as well as CI / CD tools and pipelines such as github actions, jfrog artifactory, argocd etc.
    • 3+ years of experience with logging, observability / telemetry tools as required for a production grade web application such as Splunk, Dynatrace etc.
    • 3+ years of experience in GCP cloud
    • 3+ years of experience in Test Driven Development & Test Automations.
    • 2+ years of experience in successfully developing proof of concepts and applications with AI from inception to deployment in at an organizational level.
    • 1+ years of experience using Agentic AI frameworks and generative AI based web-services and tools.

  • People Management Skills
    • 5+ years of experience in hiring, leading high performing distributed multi-sited/remote software engineering teams including performance management, team building, leading career growth and skill development through coaching, and setting measurable professional goals etc.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a data-driven mindset.
    • Experience in defining and analyzing KPIs to measure project success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Out of the box thinker & implementor with open source publicly visible work on GitHub.
  • Bring a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
  • Experience in understanding AI/ML algorithms, frameworks, and tools (e.g. tensorflow, pytorch etc..)
  • Experience working with distributed teams, working across multiple time zones and geographies
  • Experience conceiving and building healthcare or wellness products
  • Performance / people management experience
  • Experience in Healthcare or Pharmacy technology
  • Experience working with onshore and offshore technology resources from vendors
  • Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with AI assisted coding tools such as cursor.ai
  • Familiarity with industry standard automation tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, n8n etc.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field of study (e.g. Data Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science)
  • Industry certifications in relevant areas such as AI / ML , Cloud Engineering , Agile Software Development etc.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$144,200.00 - $288,400.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
