Alberta Health Services Chair in Primary Care Research

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

Position Summary
This position is a full-time (1.0 FTE) tenure-track (contingent) position, comprising approximately 60% - 80% research and the remainder in other academic pursuits, including teaching and administration.

The Chair will provide academic and research leadership by developing and sustaining an innovative, high-quality research program in primary care. The successful candidate will foster interdisciplinary and collaborative research within the Department of Family Medicine and across the University, and will work closely with primary care clinicians and health system partners to identify and address knowledge gaps. The Chair will contribute to research capacity-building by recruiting and mentoring residents, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research associates, and faculty. The incumbent is expected to formally acknowledge the Alberta Health Services Chair in Primary Care in all relevant scholarly and public communications.

An appointee occupying the position of the Chair shall, at a minimum, meet the following requirements:
- have an MD, PharmD, RN, and/or a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent); and
- have productivity as a researcher in research relevant to primary care.
Additional skills, accomplishments, and programs of research that enhance their fitness for the position include:
- A record of attracting and supervising graduate students and postdoctoral fellows;
- experience leading/facilitating clinical research, randomized trials, explorations of large electronic health databases, and systematic reviews and other critical appraisals of medical evidence;
- experience engaging clinicians and health administrators to support research;
- graduate degree in biostatistics, or other training that would enhance research in the members of the Department of Family Medicine; and
- any primary care relevant program of research where the appointee is considered a leader in their field.
