Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

Reporting to the Director, Office of Education, College of Health Sciences, the Functional Analyst is a pivotal bridge between Faculty and Department student service business processes and system functionality. The Functional Analyst plays a key role in supporting student services focused portfolios, and managing system linkages to the Registrar’s Office (RO), Office of the Dean of Students (DOS), Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) and University of Alberta International (UAI), by blending their knowledge of student service practices and operational support with expertise in an array of student systems utilized by the University’s campus community.

The College of Health Sciences unites the University of Alberta’s health-focused faculties and schools to enable a new level of interdisciplinary research and teaching that advances human health and wellness across individual, community, and global contexts.   • Related post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience working with student administration systems in a post-secondary environment (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and/or Slate experience is ideal).
  • Demonstrated competence and aptitude for working with technology.
    Business analysis certificate and knowledge of PSQuery, PeopleTools, PeopleCode, SQR, XML, SQL, HTML/Javascript, Google Suite, Tableau, FreshService and/or Adobe products are assets.

  • Serves as a bridge between business processes and system functionality
  • Configures Campus Solutions tables and third-party systems to support operations in alignment with business requirements. This includes coordinating annual processes necessary for upcoming terms and maintaining/updating configurations as necessary throughout the cycle
  • Initiates and coordinates operational processes (e.g., batch processes), taking into consideration operational requirements and timelines, as well as stakeholder impacts.
  • Conducts first-stage investigations into issues raised by student services staff. Collects relevant information to identify the source of the issue, formulates a solution and/or documents complex issues for follow up by ESSI or IST Enterprise Applications
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of current business processes for each faculty under the college in order to identify shortcomings, where change is necessary, formulate appropriate changes, and present solutions in a clear and simple manner.
  • Builds meaningful relationships with client groups and stakeholders in order to provide day-to day advice and support to business management, business users, and on-campus stakeholders related to student systems and system functionality.
