The Impact you will have in this role:
The Systems Engineering family is responsible for the entire technical effort to evolve and verify solutions that satisfy client needs. The primary focus is centered on reducing risk and improving the efficiency, performance, stability, security, and quality of all systems and platforms. The Systems Engineering role specializes in the analysis, evaluation, design, testing, implementation, support, and debugging of all middleware, mainframe, and distributed platforms, tools, and systems of the firm.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developer background, and experience in automation
  • Manage and maintain existing Kubernetes and Linux server infrastructure.
  • Manage the container platform ecosystem (installation, upgrade, patching, monitoring) via IaC.
  • Independently installs, customizes, and integrates commercial software packages via IaC.
  • Upgrading and patching Kubernetes environment, preferably OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
  • Development, Defect fixing, User stories using JIRA, Root cause analysis, Project Install support and Maintenance
  • Contribute to and support the corporate Enterprise Container Strategy.
  • Cluster capacity management and provisioning through automation of underlying hosts
  • Provide L2 and L3 engineering support to developers and other engineers.
  • Work with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing.
  • Identify ideas to improve system performance and impact availability.
  • Create system documentation/playbook(s).
  • Partner with experienced team members to develop accurate work estimates on work packages.
  • May serve as a mentor on procedural matters to less experienced internal and third-party team members.
  • May assist team members with the delegation of work packages.
  • Aligns risk and control processes into day-to-day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; escalates appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:

  • DevOps Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a DevOps environment, with a background in software development for maintenance projects
  • Technical Proficiency: Training and hands-on experience with AWS, VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Linux, Bash scripting, YAML, Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, and JIRA
  • CI/CD and Automation: Skilled in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins, and infrastructure automation in cloud environments
  • AWS and VMware Expertise: Extensive knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, ELB, RDS, IAM, Route 53, VPC, Auto Scaling, CloudWatch, Lambda, SG, SNS) and VMware provisioning, including TCP/IP services like DNS
  • Container Management: Proficient in creating Docker files, building images, running containers, managing Docker volumes and registries, and understanding GitOps and ArgoCD concepts
