Introduction to the team

As a Software Development Engineer II, you’ll join the Inventory team in the Expedia Distribution & Supply Technology division of Expedia Group. Our team oversees the services that support lodging supply. You will play a critical role in refining the lodging supply services, working on initiatives to increase booking conversion or improve client experience, and building scalable and resilient solutions.

An established performer who consistently applies software engineering principles to business contexts, leads small, well-defined projects and continues as a supporting player on complex projects, and actively identifies inefficiencies in existing systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Develops and tests standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements

  • Applies software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions

  • Proactively reaches out to meet peers across environment and collaborates to solve problems

  • Takes advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area

  • Completes tasks and/or provides data to support implementation of holistic solutions that forge linkages between structure, people, process and technology

Experience and qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience in software development or similar role, bachelor's degree+

  • Developed software in a team environment of at least 5 engineers (agile, version control, etc.)

  • Built and maintained a software project/product in production environments in public/hybrid cloud infrastructure

  • Strong technical proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java. Knowledgeable in modern API frameworks, including REST, gRPC and GraphQL

  • Understands debugging, testing and monitoring tools

Please note that this role is only available in Austin, TX and in alignment with our flexible work model which requires employees to be in-office at least three days a week. We are unable to offer relocation assistance for this role.

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
