Mobile Engineer III, iOS

As a Mobile Engineer III, iOS, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the traveler experience at one of the world's largest travel platforms. You will be part of the team responsible for Expedia’s mobile checkout experience—an area of strategic importance and massive scale (millions of users).

You’ll work on exciting new features that make the checkout experience seamless for users—adding new forms of payment, new capabilities, improving the current experience, monitoring and improving page performance, building alerting and monitoring for key metrics, and expanding the native checkout experience to support multiple lines of business and points of sale. You will help lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and own the design and implementation of complex features. Beyond excellent engineering skills, you bring product thinking, a quality mindset, and a collaborative spirit.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Development Efforts: Design and build scalable, high-performance iOS components using Swift, SwiftUI, and Combine, contributing to Expedia’s modular checkout architecture.
  • Mentor and Guide: Support and mentor junior developers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching.
  • Own Features End-to-End: Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions—from ideation and architecture to testing and deployment.
  • Drive Technical Excellence: Champion coding standards, test automation, and architectural best practices. Improve app performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with designers, product managers, backend engineers, and QA in an agile, globally distributed team.
  • Foster Innovation: Evaluate new tools, libraries, and frameworks. Experiment and advocate for improvements in developer workflows and product capabilities.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Experienced Mobile Engineer: 4–7 years of iOS development experience with a proven track record of shipping high-quality consumer-facing apps.
  • Deep Technical Proficiency: Expert in Swift, with strong command of SwiftUI, Combine, UIKit, and Xcode tooling. Familiarity with dependency injection, modularization, and app architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, VIPER).
  • System Thinker: You understand how mobile code integrates with backend APIs, analytics, A/B testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring systems.
  • Quality-Focused: You build unit and integration tests, ensure performance optimization, and are rigorous about tracking and resolving production issues.
  • Collaborative Leader: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. You actively contribute to team planning and encourage knowledge sharing.
  • Adaptable and Curious: You keep up with evolving mobile trends and enjoy finding elegant solutions to complex problems.
