Software Development Engineer II - Marketplace Technology
Introduction to Team: Marketplace Technology is a critical area of our business focused on making the experience for our customers and partners simple and easy to navigate while also driving the right marketplace behaviors and addressing experiences that are counter to building trust.

In this role, your expertise and passion for innovation, developing cutting-edge technology and implementing industry-leading solutions, will improve the experience of millions of travelers and travel partners each year.
In this role, you will:
Develop, debug, test, and document components of software applications and tools
Apply software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is scalable, clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions
Collaborate with team members to co-develop and solve problems, actively participating in code and design reviews
Apply formal training methods to current workload and comfortable asking questions and challenging the status quo
Take advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area, seeking knowledge from subject matter experts when needed
Technologies we use: Java, Scala, Dropwizard, Spring, Node.js, React, GraphQL, Docker, Kafka, Cassandra, MongoDB, Hadoop, Qubole, Spark, DataDog, Splunk, AWS cloud
Experience and qualifications
Bachelors/Master’s degree in Computer Science or any other related Technical fields; or equivalent related professional experience
2-5 years of professional, post-college software development in object-oriented language
Collaborative approach and strong interpersonal skills
Eagerly share your knowledge and expertise, hungry to learn (and admit) what you don't know
Commitment to technical excellence
Experience using code versioning tools
Experience with Agile development methodology
Exposure to cloud infrastructure, architectural patterns, and scalable production quality systems
Experience building on cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) with sound architectural patterns and scalable, cost-efficient production quality systems
