Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering:

Introduction to the Team
Expedia Technology teams partner with our Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.

Expedia Group is looking for an established people leader who will lead a larger team of engineers (~6-10 people) for the rates and inventory team. The Rates and Inventory team within the Supply Partner Experience Group is responsible for building capabilities for our partners, from vacation rental owners to the largest hotel chains in the world. Our highly resilient web experiences and APIs run in the cloud using Amazon Web Services to power those capabilities. We work in an agile environment with a DevOps model to keep up with the needs of our partners and the ever-evolving travel industry. Our engineers are involved in every aspect of the application lifecycle, so we can continue improving our user experience and the underlying platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Manages, and develops diverse, distributed teams; responsible for performance management and talent planning.

  • Defines team goals aligned with business needs and collaborates across multiple teams to deliver solutions.

  • Owns capacity planning, resource allocation, and ensures optimal team structure and efficiency.

  • Leads product roadmap execution in partnership with product management; plans product lifecycle phases.

  • Mentors both individual contributors and managers; supports professional development and growth.

  • Drives process improvements, identifies bottlenecks, and implements scalable solutions.

  • Bridges technical and business domains; ensures alignment between technology stack and business outcomes.

  • Contributes to product innovation by gathering customer feedback and identifying industry shifts.

  • Reports on team progress, evaluates skill gaps, and implements action plans to meet goals.

  • Collaborates across senior-level peers and functions to influence broader organizational success.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 6+ years of technical experience

  • 3+ years of people management experience.

  • Proficient in multiple technologies, languages, and frameworks; up-to-date with industry trends and tools.

  • Strong architectural and design skills; advocates for best practices and operational excellence.

  • Broad product knowledge; able to contribute across components and resolve complex issues.

  • Understands customer use cases and applies insights to improve technology and business outcomes.

  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Recognized as a mentor and thought leader within and beyond the team.

Please note that this role is only available in Seattle, in alignment with our flexible work model which requires employees to be in-office at least three days a week.

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
