Senior Technical Accounting Specialist
The opportunity
The Technical Accounting Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and sharing deep technical expertise in IFRS, US GAAP, and Lux GAAP as they apply to Alternative Investment Funds. The role supports engagement teams by providing high-quality technical accounting guidance, assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements, and leading conversions between local GAAP and Group Fund GAAP/IFRS/US GAAP.
The Specialist will coordinate closely with local EY offices to ensure full compliance with jurisdiction-specific accounting and reporting requirements. The role also includes actively monitoring changes in accounting standards and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on client reporting, and ensuring that internal teams are appropriately trained and equipped to apply these updates consistently across engagements.
Your key responsibilities
- Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and Lux GAAP.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support on GAAP adjustments and conversions.
- Advise teams on accounting treatments, interpretation of standards, and disclosure requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate with local EY offices to ensure compliant reporting.
- Develop and maintain a structured repository of technical guidance, templates, and interpretations.
Skills and attributes for success
Education
- · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- · Professional qualification preferred (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA, local equivalent).
Experience
- 3–6 years’ experience in statutory accounting, technical accounting, or audit.
- Minimum 2 years experience in Alternative Investment Funds (mainly real estate and / or private equity)
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in IFRS, and statutory reporting.Ability to interpret and apply accounting guidance.
- Experience with GAAP-to-GAAP conversions.
- Direct hand-on experience in US GAAP and Lux GAAP is a strong asset
- Exposure to multi-jurisdictional accounting or preferred.
