As a Data Migration Specialist at either the Manager or Senior Manager rank, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing data migration projects for our clients. You will leverage your expertise in Data Migration, Data Governance, and Data Migration Design to ensure seamless transitions of data across various systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that enhance data integrity and compliance while aligning with our clients’ goals.
In line with client requirements this role is ideally based in our Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office, however, we are open to candidates applying who are based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington).
Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options. Below we have outlined the key responsibilities for the role to help guide applicants.
Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage end-to-end data migration projects discovery and planning through execution, reconciliation and post‑migration support, ensuring timely and successful execution.
- Develop and implement data migration strategies, including planning, design, and execution phases.
- Act as the primary migration authority for clients and delivery teams, translating business needs into migration outcomes.
- Provide leadership data migration approaches, advising on migration patterns and constraints.
- Design and document data migration solution architectures, processes, workflows, mappings, and technical specifications.
- Provide guide the selection and use of ETL / ELT tools, automation frameworks, and reconciliation approaches.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data governance, data quality, and data ownership standards across migration programmes.
- Analyse and assess data quality, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective measures.
- Ensure migrations comply with privacy, regulatory, and security requirements, including data residency and retention obligations.
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, dependencies and issues to senior management.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the development of migration accelerators, templates, and reusable assets.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to data migration and data governance.

- Proven expertise in end‑to‑end data migration, including discovery, planning, execution, reconciliation, and post‑migration support, and implementing pragmatic approaches.
- Strong client‑facing presence, able to challenge constructively, influence decisions, and build trust at senior levels.
- Expertise in data migration design, including ETL processes and tools.
- A good understanding of data governance principles, including data ownership, standards, controls, and data quality frameworks.
- Ability to analyse and assess data quality, identify issues, and implement remediation measures.
- Strong skills in designing and documenting migration architectures, workflows, mappings, and technical specifications.
- Experience guiding the selection and use of ETL / ELT tools, automation frameworks, and reconciliation approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality, accuracy and integrity.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with data management tools and technologies, as well as cloud-based data solutions.
