The opportunity

EY is seeking a high‑potential Business & Operations Analyst to support the Chief Operations Officer (COO) in driving internal operational excellence, digital transformation, and data‑driven decision‑making across the firm.

This role is ideal for a junior professional who combines strong business analysis capabilities with technical aptitude, enjoys improving how organisations work, and is motivated by the practical adoption of technology and AI in a professional services environment.

The role sits within the Business Development team, its focus is supporting the firm’s operational effectiveness, cost monitoring, and strategic planning.

Key responsibilities

Working closely with the COO and internal stakeholders, the successful candidate will:

  • Support internal process optimisation initiatives, identifying inefficiencies, documenting current processes, and proposing practical improvements.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of automations to streamline recurring operational and reporting tasks.
  • Contribute to the adoption of AI tools across the firm by supporting use‑case identification, pilot initiatives, user enablement, and basic change management.
  • Develop and maintain data visualisation dashboards and reports to monitor costs, budgets, and key operational KPIs.
  • Support the annual budget planning process, including data collection, analysis, scenario modelling, and preparation of management reports.
  • Prepare analytical insights and presentations to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, HR, and client-facing teams to ensure alignment and data accuracy.

  • Structured and organised approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, including the ability to explain analytical insights in a simple and meaningful way.
  • A learning‑oriented mindset, with the motivation to continuously develop new skills in analytics, automation, and digital enablement.
  • Professional maturity, discretion, and reliability when working closely with senior leadership and sensitive information.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and basic modelling.
  • Foundational business analysis skills, with experience (academic or professional) in requirements gathering, process mapping, or data analysis.
  • Technical exposure or aptitude, including programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python, SQL, Power BI, Power Automate, VBA, or similar).
  • Experience or hands‑on exposure to Power BI, Power Platform, or similar data visualisation tools for building dashboards or management reports.
  • A solid understanding of data concepts, including data structures, data quality, and reporting logic.
  • Interest in, or exposure to, automation and AI tools (e.g. Copilot, ChatGPT, workflow AI tools) applied in a business or operational context.
  • Prior junior level experience in consulting, operations, finance, or analytics.
  • Interest in process improvement methodologies (Lean, continuous improvement, digital transformation).
