EY GDS – APIGEE Platform Engineer Position

Over the last decade, API-led connectivity, cloud-native modernization and digital transformation have become critical for ensuring scalability, security and resilience across enterprise ecosystems. To support this evolving digital landscape, EY leverages Google Apigee, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure and DevOps automation to deliver secure, high-performance and highly available API management platforms for mission-critical business applications.

As part of our global EY GDS team, you will work as a Senior APIGEE Platform Architect supporting large-scale API management environments across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.

The Opportunity

We are offering you a demanding role. You will use your advanced expertise in Google Apigee, Kubernetes, Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps Automation, API Security and Enterprise Architecture to deliver secure, scalable and highly available solutions for mission-critical enterprise integrations and API ecosystems. This position provides opportunities to collaborate with global stakeholders and support API modernization, cloud transformation and operational excellence initiatives.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Apigee platform architecture and implementation.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for Apigee and platform issues.
  • Design and support end-to-end platform migrations and modernization programs.
  • Drive infrastructure automation, governance and security standards.
  • Collaborate with networking, cloud, security and DevOps teams.
  • Define HA, DR, scalability and resiliency requirements.
  • Establish observability, monitoring and operational readiness standards.

Strong Understanding Of:

  • Google Apigee platform administration and implementation, including proxies, shared flows, products, apps, environments, policies, analytics, and management APIs.
  • Kubernetes operations including pods, deployments, services, ingress, namespaces, secrets, config maps, RBAC, autoscaling, logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, Azure, and hybrid/on-prem environments.
  • API Security concepts including OAuth2, JWT, API Keys, TLS/mTLS, rate limiting, quota, spike arrest, and threat protection.
  • API Security concepts including OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and mTLS
  • CI/CD and APIOps automation using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Maven, and scripting frameworks.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, and Ansible.
  • Monitoring and Observability using Apigee Analytics, Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Splunk
  • Linux administration, networking fundamentals, REST APIs, YAML/JSON, and production support operations.

To Qualify for the Role, you must have

  • 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in API Management, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or DevOps
  • Hands-on experience with Google Apigee administration, deployment, and platform support.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes platforms such as GKE, EKS, AKS, or enterprise Kubernetes distributions
  • Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD and APIOps automation pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking, DNS, load balancing, IAM, routing, and security controls.
  • Experience with API Security implementation including OAuth2, JWT, TLS/mTLS, API Keys, and gateway policies.
  • Strong Linux administration, scripting, troubleshooting, and production support experience.

Additionally, Good to Have

  • Experience with Apigee Hybrid installation, upgrades, and runtime troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, Ansible, or GitOps-based platform provisioning
  • IBM API Connect (APIC) and IBM DataPower migration experience
  • Experience with DevSecOps and vulnerability scanning tools such as Trivy, Snyk, Checkov, tfsec, and SonarQube
  • Experience in regulated, private cloud, multi-cloud, or hybrid environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
    • Google Apigee API Engineer Certification
    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Ideally, You Will Also Have

  • Possesses good communication skills to coordinate, resolve queries of both external and internal customers
  • Self-motivator and result oriented to complete task as per timelines
  • Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written/Verbal Communication, Presentation, Interactive skills with team across geography.
  • Flexible to work either independently or work in tandem with Cloud Infrastructure team to identify and implement the most efficient cloud-based solutions for the company.
