Technical Project Management - Advisor I

What does a successful Project Manager, Advisor do?

The purpose of the Project Manager, Advisor’s job is to ensure predictable, consistent, and successful project delivery. The Project Manager, Advisor will plan, coordinate, and monitor larger-scale projects with high complexity and risk. This role partners with key business stakeholders to ensure a successful start-up and completion of projects that typically impact multiple business units and functional areas. The Project Manager, Advisor is expected to work under minimal supervision with oversight provided by the Project Management Office management team.

What you will do:

  • Ensure predictable, consistent, and successful project delivery.
  • Engage in project planning activities, including defining the overall scope and creating/maintaining a consolidated timeline highlighting major milestones and associated dates.
  • Identify and communicate project dependencies and impacts, ensuring ongoing control mechanisms such as kick-off meetings, overall project management approach, communication plans, risk management, issues management, and change control.
  • Define project governance, outlining roles, responsibilities, decision rights, and a clearly defined escalation path.
  • Ensure success criteria are defined upfront to promote alignment and actively manage expected project outcomes.
  • Keep all stakeholders engaged, aligned on expected outcomes, and informed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proactively communicate project progress, ensuring transparency and providing leadership and key stakeholders with timely information and venues for effective decision-making.
  • Manage third-party relationships involved in the project, including scheduling activities, maintaining budget control, and ensuring deliverables are properly defined and completed on schedule.

What you will need to have:

  • 5+ years of experience in project management and/or relevant consulting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management processes and methodologies, as well as project lifecycles.
  • Experience working in a client-facing role.

What would be great to have:

  • Experience in banking, financial services, and/or software industries.
  • PMP certification preferred or a willingness to work toward attainment of PMP certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Proficiency with project management tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with project team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive project problems to closure.
  • Ability to engage in project initiating activities such as identifying stakeholders and defining roles and responsibilities.
