Senior Oracle Database Engineer

What does a successful Senior Oracle Database Engineer do at Fiserv?

You will work with the implementation of new technologies and support operations on numerous Oracle databases. You will define and resolve information flow and content issues and help to transform business requirements into environment specific databases. You will perform database migration from existing on prem datacenters to Oracle Cloud (ExaCC / ExaCS) with minimal to no downtime utilizing technologies including Oracle Data Guard and GoldenGate. You will perform fail-over testing; implement database patches and upgrades; and demonstrate expert level knowledge of networks, storage, encryption, security, cloud and backup and recovery technologies. You will configure backups and restore databases with backup solutions including NetBackup, EMC Networker, and DDBoost while installing and configuring database utilities, including Oracle Enterprise Manager.

What you will do:

  • Configure, administer, and implement complex database infrastructures, multiple replication technologies, multi-directional flows, and other high-availability architectural topologies
  • Design and implement conflict detection and resolution (CDR) solutions for replication
  • Support multiple servers and multiple databases of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of the data
  • Perform fail-over testing and demonstrate expert level knowledge of networks, storage, encryption, security, cloud and backup and recovery technologies
  • Manage the implementation of database patches, upgrades, and migrations
  • Perform performance tuning, problem diagnosis, and resolution in Oracle database environments
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support

What you will need to have:

  • 6 years of experience as an Oracle Database Engineer with Oracle 11g, 12c, 19c, ASM, Grid Infrastructure and RAC on Exadata (CC/CS), Linux, AIX, Solaris, Unix operating systems
  • 5 years of experience administering Oracle databases in both OLTP and data warehouse environments
  • 5 years of experience installing and administering ASM, RAC, Oracle CDB/PDB databases
  • 5 years of experience with backup and restore techniques for databases of at least 5TB
  • 3 years of experience configuring and administering Oracle Transparent Database Encryption (TDE) utilizing HSM based key storage and installing, database configuring, and administering Oracle GoldenGate two-way replication with CDR and Automatic CDR
  • 3 years of experience in performance tuning, database architectures, replication, problem diagnosis and resolution, shell scripting, SQL and backup and recovery
  • 3 years of experience with others replication technologies including: Data Guard, Active Data Guard, and Streams
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience

What would be great to have:

  • Experience scripting in Python and automation technologies. CI/CD tools
  • Experience with IT service management or ITIL utilizing Remedy and Service Now
