Director, Data Engineering

What does a successful Director of Data Engineering do at Fiserv?

The Director of Data Engineering within our Data Commerce Solutions group drives design and development of data engineering projects at Fiserv. The Director applies their expertise across the data engineering lifecycle and collaborates with stakeholders to achieve common goals.

As the Director, you possess deep expertise in data quality principles, including profiling, cleansing, validation, governance, and modern software development. You will lead large-scale data engineering, integration, and warehousing projects, create custom integrations using APIs, and write complex queries to transform raw data into accessible models. Additionally, you will architect, build, and launch data models for intuitive analytics while ensuring data quality for your pipelines.

What you will do:

  • Hands-on development in Java or Python to ingest, manage, and monitor PII/PCI data, incorporating a data product delivery monitor to automate the workflow.
  • Lead a team of data engineers to design, develop, and maintain scalable data product pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Architect and implement data models, ETL processes, and data integration solutions to support business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions and keep track of deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices, coding standards, and software development methodologies to deliver high-quality and scalable software solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze software development metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track team productivity, efficiency, and code quality.

What you will need to have:

  • 7+ years of experience in a leadership role within software development or software engineering using Java and Python
  • Proficiency with processing large volumes of data using data processing tools and Big Data platforms like Databricks, with a focus on developing and managing data products
  • Proficiency working with Azure Cloud or other major cloud platforms, and knowledge of deploying and managing APIs in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with problem-solving and decision-making focused on delivering high-quality products.
  • Experience working with SQL and NO SQL databases like Yugabyte, Cassandra, REDIS, etc.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex software projects/products on time and within budget.
  • Extensive experience in software development methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban, and experience in CICD
  • Bachelor's in computer science, software engineering, or related field or relevant work experience in product building with big data tools and solutions.

What would be great to have:

  • Experience in Design and architecture review and Banking and Financial domain
  • Experience building data products in Fraud, Ad-Tech, or Mar-Tech
  • Exposure to Relational Modeling, Dimensional Modeling, and Modeling of Unstructured Data.
  • Master's degree

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.

Salary Range

$127,500.00 - $204,000.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
