Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
  • Experience with optical network installation, maintenance and operation for service providers or enterprise networks navigating Element Management System (EMS) and Network Management Station (NMS).
  • Experience in Optical or IP network operations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of networking and fundamentals of network troubleshooting Layer 1 and Layer 3.
  • Knowledge of fiber types and their applications, including physical fiber characteristics and standard testing tools (e.g., OSA,BERT, OTDR).
  • Knowledge of network transport design, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

In this role, you will create bill of materials, deployment packages for metro optical systems, and recommend tactical changes to existing physical infrastructure (e.g., structure cable, riser, point of entrance details, bulk fiber). You will apply standard/common tools, resources, and processes to complete defined metro optical network projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $93,000-$136,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for building and operating Google network reliably and at scale.
  • Build metro optical networks.
  • Design, plan, and install metro optical gear.
  • Develop creative approaches for keeping operational costs low through tooling and process improvements.
