Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
- 5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
- 3 years of work experience working with executive leaders.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience leading and navigating alignment with cross product area partners.
- Ability to lead in ambiguous spaces, working cross-functionally to identify questions, solve problems, and co-own research.
- Excellent people-management, communication and presentation skills.

UX Research Managers are fierce advocates for the people who use our products as well as the members of their teams. You’re an expert at using qualitative research methods such as field studies, interviews, and diary studies to shape product development and influence overall strategy.
In this role, you’ll take the time to understand not just the execution side of UX, but also the business aspects of the products we build. You’ll collaborate with leaders of other UX, Engineering, and Product Management teams to create innovative experiences across all of Google’s products, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Responsibilities
- Scoping and executing research that gives us a strong understanding of the wider array of topics influencing ecosystem usage, benefits of Google Account in product experiences.
- Collaborate effectively with data science, customer feedback and marketing to provide a unified and holistic view of user pain points and needs.
- Partner cross-functionally to design and deliver strategic research that strongly influences product strategy, building strong relationships with Product Managers, UXD/W, Engineers, and beyond to proactively identify and prioritize research questions.
- Activate research findings through effective communications, tools, and artifacts to drive the impact of the team’s work, delivering high-quality and creative research programs that answer key questions and drive insights into action.
- Lead and inspire a team of UXRs through strong people management skills, including advocacy, coaching, and mentorship.
