Minimum qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in product management or a related position
  • 10 years of experience managing a product management team
  • 5 years of experience in consumer product management

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Effective leadership capabilities, and ability to motivate a team
  • Expertise leading teams towards business goals
  • Expertise in the communication space working in user facing products

About the job

As a Senior Director of Product Management for Chat you will have the opportunity to impact people directly leading the strategy and development of the core communication experience in Chat. Through your leadership, you'll leverage your technical expertise, product and design sense to envision and build a delightful AI-first chat experience to help users triage, organize, understand, and act on the wealth of information at their disposal.

You will build product management teams, work with engineering, UX, analytics, GTM and the rest of the functions to define the strategy, roadmap, and execution to bring effective and delightful communications to Chat’s users.

The products that make up Workspace are well known, and they are individually popular, having now achieved users across multiple products. Chat is a central product within Workspace but also within Google. You will be expected to collaborate with many other teams across Google and Workspace so our products are coherent and solve people’s pain points without organizational boundaries.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $320,000-$445,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define the product vision and strategy for chat core communication experience. Develop a roadmap of AI-first features to help people triage, organize, understand, act, and communicate.
  • Design and lead a multi­-year roadmap, balancing short­ and long­-term goals and investments to scale globally. Own cross-functional ownership of product development process from ideation through development and commercial launch.
  • Engage regularly as a trusted advisor with business leaders to understand strategies, end-to-end business processes, pain points, and priorities to inform product strategy.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, UX, and other internal Google teams to drive product and delivery success. Analyze competitors and industry trends to advance products and drive innovation.
  • Attract, develop, and retain a high performing team of product managers. Collaborate with internal and external teams and executives to ensure coordination.
