Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
- 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: on-device machine learning, mobile algorithms, Large Language Models (LLMs)/GenAI evaluations, data collection for ML, and Android development.
- Experience in AI tool chain, evaluation metrics design, and data management techniques.
- Experience launching one or multiple AI/ML-powered user-facing products.
- Knowledge of Android or Pixel development ecosystem.

You will be responsible for enhancing the development and deployment experiences for intelligent applications on Pixel and Android, leveraging the latest on-device and server based models. This includes tasks such as platform design, model evaluation methodologies, metrics design, and data analysis. You will be collecting, training, and evaluating data and ML quality for a variety of use cases, working with teams across Google to design and implement new infrastructure and tooling for Pixel and Android AI development.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Responsibilities
- Design tools, platforms, frameworks to enhance intelligent applications development, with focus on model evaluation, quality, and performance on Pixel and Android across different countries.
- Craft evaluation datasets, metrics, and pipelines to understand, evaluate and improve the behavior of our models, platform and algorithms. Support a multitude of user facing features that rely on the quality and performance of these algorithms, running on-device and across different devices.
- Support a multitude of user-facing features that rely on the quality and performance of these algorithms, as running on compute-constrained embedded systems.
- Interface with multitude of teams across product areas and cross-functional partners to influence cross-team priority and road map.
- Clarify product and technical requirements with prototyping and metrics driven development processes.
