Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience working in a display or semiconductor test engineering technical environment including the introduction of new test systems into production environments.
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience with imaging colorimetry, photometry, and optical metrology systems.
  • Experience in data analysis and scripting using Python (e.g., pandas, numpy), or SQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • Experience in automating electrical instrumentation and optical equipment via Python (e.g., Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI), Virtual Instrument Software Architecture (VISA), etc.).
  • Experience designing or integrating optomechanical fixtures and automation for high-precision optical measurement.
  • Experience releasing complex hardware/software tools into a high-volume Mass Production (MP) environment.
  • Experience in ULED, OLED, or related emissive display technologies.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional teams in complete system design, from concept to deployment.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the test architecture and New Product Introduction (NPI) for a complete display calibration solution, including imaging colorimetry algorithms, optomechanical control strategy. Drive the transition from prototyping to Mass Production (MP) integration at scale.
  • Collaborate with CMOS design and Software teams to define test specifications and optimize test test time, accuracy, and precision.
  • Work to implement, debug, and validate new test solutions. Set project timelines, define milestones, and organize domain experts through complex debugging and scale-up phases.
  • Partner with external vendors to define optical calibration scaling strategies and oversee the release of tools into mass production environments.
  • Define and execute test programs for chip and system-level validation. Utilize advanced data analysis to drive design improvements.
