- Experience in a tech leadership role, including setting technical strategy/roadmap, mentoring and guiding junior team members.
- Experience building, launching, and scaling AI-powered product experience.
- Excellent collaborator with communication, people management, and problem-solving skills.

User Generated Content (UGC) is critical to keeping maps fresh and useful. Team’s mission is to grow and foster an active, representative, and engaged maps contributor community. We are responsible for the end-to-end contributor experience, spanning notifications, in-app engagement, and local guide programs. We evolve our contributor engagement engine with AI/agentic advances, in order to build a more personalized, friction free, and motivating contributor experience.
In this role, you will lead our overall technical strategy to build the next generation contributor engagement engine with AI/agentic capabilities, in order to reach, engage, motivate our contributors at the right place and the right time.
The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.
The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.
Responsibilities
- Lead overall technical strategy of the contributor engagement engine.
- Evolve our infrastructure to integrate with the latest AI/agentic capabilities to significantly improve our ability to personalize the contributors experience.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth oriented team environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Manager, UX across Geo teams to plan and execute on our contributor engagement roadmap.
- Elevate our engineering culture and quality standards. Set technical direction and drive efforts (e.g., design forum) to continually mature our infrastructure and improve code quality. Lead our effort to pivot towards AI augmented development paradigm/tooling, in order to accelerate our overall efficiency and velocity.
