Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working in a camera module or system engineering.
  • Experience designing and implementing camera module products.
  • Experience managing overseas vendors.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • Experience in lens design, optical simulation, and complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor, including interfacing and tuning.
  • Experience in mechanical design and tolerance analysis of highly constrained and high-precision designs.
  • Experience in relevant failure analysis techniques, such as X-ray, CT scan, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), or ptical microscopy.
  • Experience in image quality test and evaluation including test charts selection, algorithms, and lighting.
  • Experience in prototypes bring up and debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support.

Google Beam Camera team architects, designs, develops, validates and integrates camera subsystems for Google Beam products. We are looking for a Senior Camera Module Design Engineer to take ownership of development and integration of high performance camera systems.Google Beam is a true-to-life new communication technology from Google that allows people to feel like they’re having real face-to-face conversations, no matter the distance. Powered by realistic state-of-the-art 3D imaging and spatial audio and integrated with today’s leading remote video platforms, Google Beam enables you to be immersed in the moment, together. As a part of the Google Beam team, you'll work with incredible teammates across all major functions in a fast-paced product-oriented environment. Your contributions will have an impact on the future of communications with Google products. You will apply technology to solve that really important problem that we often want to be together and we can’t.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead camera module design and system integration with sensor selection, lens specifications, module architecture, and trade-off studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (system, electrical, mechanical, software, product design, industrial design, test, program management, operations, finance, etc.) to deliver a successful product to market.
  • Define factory test requirements, specifications and documentation to communicate with both internal and external audiences.
  • Bring design to mass production by traveling on-site to support product manufacturing, testing, debugging and yield improvement activities.
  • Investigate future architecture and specifications of Google Beam’s products.
