Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
- 4 years of experience in ML/AI-driven product development (e.g., building and shipping classifiers, recommendation systems, or detection models).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience building or leveraging behavioral or network analysis systems to detect patterns (e.g., fraud, abuse, coordinated behavior).
- Experience in safety-critical environments, abuse detection, fraud prevention, or trust and safety, with a strong understanding of precision/recall trade-offs at scale.
- Track record of defining strategy for ambiguous spaces and communicating technical roadmaps to executive leadership.

As a Product Manager for Engagement Safety, you will drive the detection strategy and roadmap to protect YouTube’s interactive ecosystems. This is a highly technical role requiring expertise in graph systems and behavioral detection to address complex, fast-evolving safety issues in real-time.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Define the long-term goal and strategy for building YouTube’s safety-focused interaction graph. Own the roadmap for detecting bad actors and coordinated abuse patterns across all interactive features.
- Scope, design, and launch advanced graph-based detection models and behavioral classifiers. Partner closely with Engineering to scale network analysis systems that process real-time interaction data at YouTube's scale.
- Create frameworks to measure the precision and recall of detection models. Ensure the detection layer adapts rapidly to evolving tactics and high-stakes safety incidents.
- Partner with Policy, Enforcement, and Intelligence teams to translate emerging threat patterns into technical detection requirements. Serve as the executive technical voice for engagement safety in strategy reviews with leadership.
