Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of relevant hardware quality experience in data analytics, coding with SQL, creating dashboards using manufacturing assembly and test data, and product performance in customer base for consumer electronics, automotive or other commercial/industrial products.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams, failure analysis for electrical/mechanical components, and manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Blackbelt, American Society for Quality certification (CQE, CQM, CRE, or CQA) or equivalent certification/experience.
  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering/Quality or Failure Analysis Engineering role in the Consumer Electronics Manufacturing area.
  • Excellent understanding of factory related and customer related product quality/reliability metrics.
  • Understands quality tools like measurement systems, process capability, control charts, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, tolerance stack up analysis, ISO and audits.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, deliver and maintain product quality standards, metrics, dashboards for HW/consumer products and services, leveraging existing tools and processes or developing new ones.
  • Drive continuous improvements throughout the product life cycle, identify and drive projects to achieve generation over generation improvements. Partner with the Early Engagement and Design teams to identify risks in next generation products, and ensure lessons from previous designs are being addressed.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on Quality initiatives, deal with ambiguity, build consensus, be an outstanding communicator (both written and verbal), and influence at all levels of the company.
  • Lead failure analysis investigation of product issues. Drive cross functional team and track associated workstreams with end to end ownership. Summarize critical findings for broad organizational consumption.
  • Advocate for the customer to understand detailed implications of decisions and recommendations.
