About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Safety, Ergonomics, and Compliance play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and usability of new product designs. While operational Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) ensures that workers don't get hurt and factories don't leak, Product Safety EHS ensures that the physical item shipped to a customer is legally permitted to exist, travel, and be disposed of in a given market.

As an EHS New Product Introduction (NPI) Product Safety Technical Program Manager, you will proactively review product designs to identify potential safety hazards or compliance concerns, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective mitigation measures. The primary goal is to minimize risk and enhance the level of product safety, as well as to ensure compliance to relevant worldwide safety standards, mitigating risks by design rather than retrofit at a later time.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EHS leadership for the introduction of new hardware products, implementing mitigations to ensure the highest level of safety possible. Evaluate new data center hardware for employee hazards to Servers, Racks, Tools and related infrastructure, coordinating equipment changes with cross-functional teams to enable risk mitigation across the product life cycle.
  • Manage safety requirement integration into design standards, coordinate equipment reviews with cross-functional teams to perform job hazard analysis and compliance reviews.
  • Review incidents with cross-functional teams to evaluate risk mitigation options for current and future deployed equipment. Manage and report risk and mitigation data to partner and stakeholder teams, contribute to commercialization strategy and implementation.
  • Travel 15-25% as needed.
